We are delighted to share the successful inauguration of the Heed Blood Bank held on 30 November 2025 at Zainab Hospital, Thatta. The ceremony was graced by our honorable Chief Guest Mr. Waheed Bajwah, whose presence added great value to this milestone. During the event, Mr. Premji K.T. delivered an insightful briefing about the vision, services, and future goals of the blood bank. The guests also visited various sections of the facility and engaged in an important **awareness session on Thalassemia**, highlighting the need for regular blood donations and community support for patients. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and supported this initiative. Together, we are taking a strong step towards saving lives and improving healthcare in the region.

Abstract The estimated population of Pakistan is approximately 225,633,392 (225 million). The healthcare delivery system of Pakistan is complex because it includes healthcare subsystems operated by both the federal government and the provincial government. In Pakistan β-thalassemia (β-thal) trait frequency ranges between 5.0-7.0%, thus, there are more than 10 million carriers in the country; and every year, around 5000 children are diagnosed to carry β-thal major (β-TM) in Pakistan. No standard management protocols exist and blood transfusion remains the mainstay of management.
