Mr. Deepak Maheshwari, the first Karachi City Councilor of Meghwar Maheshwari community visited Mehran Thalassemia Center Thatta. Deepak Maheshwari, speaking about the facilities provided to thalassemia children in Mehran Thalassemia Center, said that Mehran Thalassemia Center is providing quality and better facilities to these children despite its very few and limited resources.

City Councilor Karachi, Deepak, Maheshwari appealed to the philanthropists on this occasion and requested to help Mehran Thalesia Center as much as possible so that these children can get better treatment facilities.

The healthcare delivery system of Pakistan is complex because it includes healthcare subsystems operated by both the federal government and the provincial government. In Pakistan β-thalassemia (β-thal) trait frequency ranges between 5.0-7.0%, thus, there are more than 10 million carriers in the country; and every year, around 5000 children are diagnosed to carry β-thal major (β-TM) in Pakistan.
